Page 15 - Dealing With Change
P. 15
In this story, Cosmos explains that change is normal and necessary. He makes the point that you have the ability to choose your “change.” You can choose what you do with life and so you are very lucky to be able to Change.
The seventh of the Coping Skills 10 Life Rules, “I shall refuse to allow my fears determine how I shall live my life” is a call to accept change and move forward.
How many adults do you know have said something like, “I really wish I had... but I was afraid to try.” They live with this regret for the rest of their life.
Encourage your children to attempt tasks that are appropriate for their age and ability. When they say,
“I don’t want to do it” or “That is not going to be fun” or “That is too hard”, remember that “Excuse Thinking” is “Stinky Thinking.”
Coach your children with Good Thinking self-messages, “You can do anything you really think you can do,” “What is the worst that can happen” and “I know you are strong enough to handle that.”
A ‘Good Thinking Kid’ welcomes Change.
