Page 10 - Too Birds

There were, of course, others who objected to these life changes. I will mention some of them so that you can see just how limiting "Too" can be. As I said in the beginning of this story, life for most birds changed greatly, particularly for the Gulls.
Before the Congress, they were a land loving bird noted for their great beauty and stately posture. The ruling of the Congress came as quite a surprise to the Gulls.
The Gulls were told by the Congress that their feather color made it impossible for them to hide from predators on land. They were fairly good short distance fliers and had nicely webbed feet. After taking all of this into consideration, the Congress decided that Gulls would live at the edge of the oceans and could eat fish or shrimp or any other sea food that might wash ashore.
Of course there was an argument. “But we are too pretty a bird to have to go along the seashore and eat the leftovers of others who are not nearly as pretty as us.” The Congress pointed out that the Gulls’ life had been very easy for a long time because they were pretty. “That was all well and
good in olden times but no longer. Now you can not rely on your good looks to feed you.”
