typically can provide assistance in obtaining them. Ken assured them that obtaining the proper permits from the city will ensure the pool installation meets all building codes and spacing restrictions and that
all electrical and pipe pressure testing are performed and witnessed by
a city inspector. A homeowner on Shenandoah Ave. wants to install a 20’x 10’storage shed either behind his house or at the back end of his driveway. He was informed that a building permit was not needed for a building of that size, but anything larger than 200 sq. ft. would require one. It was also mentioned that the HOA prefers the location behind the house but would not object to the alternate location. A home on Malvern Hill was resubmitted to the city Blight Department to report overgrown vegetation in the front of the property and along the driveway. This is
Mike also wanted to remind residents that they can find their filings and the restrictions specific to each filing on the website.
Beautification Report – The “YARD OF THE MONTH” in Shenandoah Estates for July is 5233 Point Clear. They will receive a $25 gift certificate from Cleggs Nursery. Congratulations! Residents are reminded that they can nominate yards for “Yard of the Month” on the website. Kevin happily noted that this yard was sent to him as a nomination from a resident.
Entrance Sign Committee Report – Sandy reported that he spoke to the contractor today. The stacked stone installation should be complete this week, the shingles are on site waiting for the roofer to complete, and mortar has been applied to prep the wall for the letters. Sandy reported that the next draw of $7,000 will be due to the contractor after the completion of the stacked stone. The Entrance Sign checking account has a balance of $8,000, so no transfers will need to be made into the account at this time.
Newswatch/Website – Ed reported that the website had triple the number of users viewing it than usual. He had posted to the Next-Door/ Shenandoah app that the Newswatch was online. That resulted in a great may viewers. He still wants to get more photos of graduates to put in the next issue. Ed noted that he is assuming that the July Newswatch should be able to be printed instead of digital. He will know by June 15, after he has been able to talk to his advertisers one-on-one to see if they’re open yet and still want to advertise.

a repeat item that apparently had not received any action. A home on East Fort Pickens was reported as having an overgrown back yard that appears to have not been maintained in quite some time. There was
also mention of a dead tree that a neighbor is concerned about. The unacceptable condition has been reported to the appropriate authorities. Ken mentioned to the neighbor that he might wish to discuss it with his insurance company and see if a letter to the homeowner concerning
the dead tree is warranted. A homeowner expressed concern that rainwater is collecting on his sidewalk possibly from his neighbor’s driveway runoff, a condition that seems to be worsening due to pine trees possibly raising the sidewalk. Ken reviewed and inspected the area in question and couldn’t find any violations or damaged sidewalk that was reportable. Ken suggested that the homeowner might consider installing a paved walkway from his sidewalk to his mailbox to provide sloped drainage there.
