Did you find it interesting that the reason the dog was the “Too Smart Dog,” was because he did what was in his best self-interest, without causing others hardship or pain.
Many people do what they want to do without considering how it may impact others. You may say that they are selfish or mean. Adults may say that they are inconsiderate or rude. In any case, there is more to being like “Too Smart Dog,” than just doing what you want to do.
“Too Smart Dog,” evaluated (took all things into consideration) and then decided what would be the best thing for him to do in this particular situation. He might have behaved differently if the thief had not be armed with a gun. He probably would have behaved differently if others’ lives had been at risk.
The main point is that he thought about this situation and evaluated it rationally. He did not allow concerns about what others might think or say about him to cause him to make a bad decision. I hope that you understand that what made him the “Too Smart Dog” was his Good Thinking.
