Page 7 - Too Smart Dog
P. 7
When the butler opened the door, the dog grabbed his tie in its mouth and proceeded to drag the protesting butler to within ten feet of the assembly of people, with the butler yelling all the time.
“Enough, enough!” said the lord, “Release my butler,” and the dog released him. “Well I must admit that that was quite impressive. But I don’t know that this dog qualifies as the smartest dog in the world,” said the lord.
The Peddler turned to the lord and said, “Well sir, do you know any other dog that can talk?” “What do you mean talk?” asked the lord.
“Well, it may not seem like a language to you. But my dog and I communicate by way of his barks and growls and I understand what he is saying.” The lord was a little less confident, after seeing the other things the dog had done. But he could not help but ask that the dog tell the Peddler something to prove that the dog could speak.
The Peddler then asked to dog to tell him something that no one else in the group would know but that they could verify. The dog wrinkled his brow and then began a series of barks and growls to the Peddler. The Peddler nodded in understanding and then began to laugh.
