For Parents Beeing Mean To Me
The Story Books in the Cosmos Crow Coping Skills series are designed to help all of us (children and adults) learn that much of our success and happiness in life depends on our “Self-Talk”.
If you tell yourself things that are realistic and make sense (Good Thinking) you are more likely to deal with life situations and those in it successfully. If you tell yourself things that are not realistic and don’t make sense (Stinky Thinking) you will deal with life situations and those in it less successfully.
Our “Beeing Mean To Me” story should seem familiar to most parents. Children, “want what they want when they want it” and if they don’t get it that way, they may say, “You are being mean to me.” You can see that way of thinking in the story character “Barry” in several situations.
When things don’t go his way because of his own poor decisions (not paying attention, over sleeping) he wants someone else to “fix it” and becomes angry when they choose not to give in to his demands.
His behavior is much like that of most children. He blames others, ignores his mistakes and will not take responsibility. This theme is repeated again in other Cosmos Crow Adventure stories for older children.
