Page 15 - Beeing Mean To Me
P. 15

It is a problem that will continue to occur for many people even into adulthood. The behaviors illustrated in this story can easily be applied adults with “Adult Problems.”
In the end, Barry Bee is able to see how he caused all these problems for himself and it was he who was being mean. He accepts that he caused his problems and is able to say, “I am sorry”, a skill we should all learn.
The Queen Bee in our story knew that Barry had a habit of Stinky Thinking when it comes to failing to take personal responsibility. She did not fuss or punish. Instead, she helped Barry recognize how what he was telling himself was untrue and foolish.
By teaching rather than punishing, the Queen is helping Barry learn and remember some important lessons about taking responsibility and accepting consequences.
Once Barry understood this “wrong headed thinking,” the Queen told him to apologize to those he had accused of being mean to him. This lesson may make Barry a more responsible and compassionate bee.
