"I will say hello and if he ignores me or says something ugly to me, I will just walk away. I will not let his impoliteness effect me. I made a bad grade on that math test because I did not study hard enough. I have to accept that I can’t learn it with just one try. I will have to go over it several times even if I find that frustrating.”
Your Good Thinking are the Glasses you will use to effectively see your life. But just as in this story, you will have to work at it and at times, you may need help to “see” something as it is in reality. Someone may ask you to do something that may cause you trouble. This is when you can use a “Good Thinking friend” who may tell you, “If you do what they want, they may say they will be your friend but you may get in trouble. Is that the kind of friend you want?”
You have the ability to use your Good Thinking even if you have some Stinky Thinking in one area or another. “I don’t know why I act that way when someone corrects me, I just can’t help but get angry.” You will have to ask yourself, “What am I thinking when someone corrects my mistake that causes me to become so angry?”
When you realize that it is Stinky Thinking, “They are just trying to make me look bad,” you must challenge it. “Why would they go to all that trouble? They correct everyone when we do something wrong. If they don’t correct me, I will keep doing the same wrong thing over and over again. No one really thinks less of me or makes fun of me just because they corrected me.”
