José Paulo – Ideal Decision

                                                                                                                                     THE FAILURES

I selected four cases of failures and decided to write this chapter
because adversities and failures took me to maturity, be it for life,
for business or to relate to people. First of all, I would like to talk
a little about why I decided to start a business. I was a factory floor
worker and from where I worked, I could see the business owner’s
room. I was always very observant, and every week a man in a suit
showed up at the company and the owner went out with him to
lunch. I reinforce my message; do you want to learn something?
                                                                                         Inquire!

One day I approached the company’s owner and asked: “Just a
curiosity, why do you take that man in a suit out to lunch every
                                                                                         week?”.

He answered: “He is my salesman. I am able to maintain the

is in sales, José Paulo, he sells and earns good money for all the
                                                                                         sales he gets”.
In that moment, in my head, I thought about it and said to
myself I could not change the world, but I could adapt to it. I
thought: “I work so hard here in the factory and I do not have the
same privilege this salesman does, I always earn the same amount
every month. If the key is to sell, I will drop the factory’s apron
and will sell something, I want this opportunity”.

It takes entrepreneurship to make a sale and my first business
was in the field of packaging, the company Softplastic in 1993.
