Interscholastic Activities
SIS Interscholastic Activities provide opportunities for students to participate in fine arts, cultural and academic events, and competitions. Students have the opportunity to participate and compete against other students from within China and the Asia region. These activities included, but are not limited to: Middle School and High School Model United Nations (MUN) conferences, Global Issues Network (GIN) conferences, Knowledge Bowl and Math Olympics, World Scholars Cup, and Debate Club. This year, our MUN group was one of the first schools in China to host an on-site conference. Additionally, both theMiddle School and High School MUN groups attended multiple conferences throughout the remainder of the school year. Additionally, SIS hosted an on-site Speech and Debate competition early in the school year that was well attended and at which our students finished very well.
Gecko Competitive Sports
Within HS, Gecko Competitive Sports teams competed in Boys & Girls Volleyball, Boys & Girls Basketball, Boy & Girls Soccer, and Boys & Girls Badminton. The volleyball teams did not have an official end of season tournament, but they did manage to get friendly competitions scheduled and they were victorious in each of their matches. The basketball teams returned to somewhat of a normal schedule, finishing in second place in the SISAC playoffs. The soccer teams competed in SISAC play while also attending an ACAMIS tournament hosted in Shenzhen. The badminton teams competed in SISAC and ACAMIS – both of which were hosted by SIS.
At the MS level, Gecko Competitive Sports teams competed in Boys & Girls Volleyball, Boys & Girls Basketball, and Boys & Girls Badminton. Even though the Boys & Girls soccer teams had a full season of practices, they unfortunately, were not able to get a competition on the schedule.
