French Bilingual Program
Since 2009, The French Bilingual Program (FBP) has offered the Francophone community in Shenzhen a French and English bilingual education from Pre- kindergarten to Grade 9. We are the first FBP in Shenzhen accredited by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE – Agence pour l’Enseignement du Français à l’Étranger). This year we have 49 students enrolled in the program - 42 in the primary and 7 students in the secondary.
This year the FBP trialed an extended program to non-native language speakers in PreK-1 and PreK-2. The French Bilingual Extended Program offered 50% French, 40% English, and 10% Chinese with inquiry-based instruction. The program was such a success we will now offer the program up to Grade 5 for the 2021-2022 school year. After Grade 5, students may continue to study French in secondary school, as we offer a class of French Language and Literature from Grade 6 to Grade 10 in our international
section. In Grade 11 & Grade 12, our students will then have the possibility to
choose to graduate with a Bilingual IB (International Baccalaureate).
SIS made a few changes in our grade level FBP curriculum. Students attended PYP activities and field trips with the international students, which allowed the
two divisions collaboration.
