                          Rapunga Kupu Akoako: (korero taken from "Boroughdale Murray, the
                          beginning of a NZ dynasty"et al) Taari Maata Davis; won the 1924
                          Queen Carnival as a young lady. The carnival was held to help raise funds to
                          enable the new hospital in Kataia to open debt free in 1928, a government
                          subsidy matched the regions fund raising efforts. For the first time for such a
                          carnival the winner was a young Maori woman. The carnival queen noted that:
                          for nearly a century the health of the Maori had declined but the last census
                          showed that it had revived, this was due to the Department of Health.

                          Taari can be seen in her full attire wearing a cloak and holding a very famous
                          Te Rarawa toanga. This is Poroa's mere "Punaute" given to him by Te Rauparaha, the mere was
                          recovered by the iwi in 1921, eventually ending up at the Auckland Museum.
