Happy Holidays 2018
December will be short, mainly because we are all taking time off and that
goes by way too fast. Hopefully good health will be more prevalent around
us.
The Chapter is coming into an election year. We will be looking for
volunteers to help with the contacting, ballots and counting now that staff
and BOD Members are not allowed to do these tasks. We will be sending a
mailing after January to see who is interested in running and for what
office. So essentially all elected positions will be open for any member in
good standing and certified under the new standards.
The requirements are a valid DD214, a birth certificate, passport or voter’s
registration card and medical records. If you choose to run, these must be
sent to National PVA for you to take office.
There has been talk of having the National Veteran’s Wheelchair Games in
2022. What do you think? Would you be willing to volunteer? Participate?
Please let us know.
th
On December 15 we will be at Indian Steele Park for the Out the of
Darkness Walk. We will have a booth and if you’d like to attend please call
the office (602) 244-9168. Please call soon so we can attempt to get you a
shirt. We expect about 25 walkers at this time. The Chapter will be walking
with the Archangels from Mesa. Suicide is now so prevalent that
awareness needs to be pushed and let others know that they are not alone.
Please come and join us.
As it is the “giving season” we all try to help those around us. May I suggest
you look for Veteran causes because they cover the gambit in needs and
opportunities that will help those who volunteered (or not) and served to
keep us all safe. There are causes from children to seniors. All kinds of
needs and you have a choice to help them and get some satisfaction for
yourself.
Enjoy the New Year
