This home is referred to as "The Bayou House", a circa-1820 cottage.
The Bayou House is a double pitch, gable ended roof house once typical of the profile featured on many small houses of Pointe Coupee Parish. This house was previously located on False River near Mix, LA and was moved to the Chenal area in 1988. This house was modernized to include central air and heat as well as indoor plumbing and electricity but has maintained its historical integretity.
Based on the Appraiser’s research of historical home sales and listing in the surrounding market areas it appears to be the more historically preserved the home the more valuable it is.
