Since graduation from SHS in 1969, I have had multiple life experiences to further both my professional career as well as my personal growth. Like most others, there have been both pleasures and tragedies along the way.
It was during my Senior year at SHS that I decided I wanted to attend Pharmacy school. I recall Mr. Marcus, our Biology teacher, suggesting that I not pursue the Science track. Nonetheless, with the assistance of Mr. Soule, I applied to, and was accepted at both the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Northeastern University's College of Pharmacy. I decided to attend Northeastern and had the opportunity to work during college at the Goddard Hospital in Stoughton as well as the Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Brockton. A f t e r I received my Bachelor
of Science in Pharmacy at Northeastern, I decided to take a shot at graduate school. I was fortunate to
be accepted at the University of Florida and received my Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacy, two years later. I was also given the opportunity to participate and complete a Clinical Pharmacy Residency at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
Once I completed my Residency, I interviewed for
allmultiple positions and was ecstatic to be hired by New ,England Medical Center (NEMC) in Boston.
I was hired as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery, working closely with physicians, nurses, and patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery at the Medical Center. I was also able to fulfill academic teaching roles at Tufts University School of Medicine, Northeastern University Bouve College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, as well as the Massachusetts College
of Pharmacy. I thoroughly enjoyed my 15 years at the Medical Center, and
was able to both publish articles in the medical literature, as well as present
lectures to both students and colleagues, both locally and internationally.

Following my tenure at NEMC, I took a position "across town" at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center as the Assistant Director for Clinical Pharmacy Services. I n addition to gaining administrative experience, I was also able to keep my academic teaching positions and work closely with the Cardiac Surgery Team at St. E's. I had a terrific five-year experience and, after 20 years in hospital
