SCHEDULE 2:

This lab schedule is designed to take 3 days, with 1.5 hours per class.

DAY 1 DAY 3

Cover the background material on Blood Instruct students to follow the procedures for
Detection and Evidence Processing. Lab 2 while completing the data collection
sheet, then assign the post-lab questions.
Distribute lab procedures.
Discuss student theories about the case.
Assign pre-lab questions for homework.
If this is your only lab exercise in The Mystery of
Lyle and Louise, prepare for a mock trial.
DAY 2

Review the lab procedures and the data
collection sheet. Emphasize that students
must observe the reaction within 3 minutes or
consider the test invalid.
Instruct students to follow the lab procedures
for Lab 1 and record their data on the data
collection sheet.
Discuss the experiments that were performed
on the previous day. Discuss the substances
that created a false positive and the impact this
might have on crime scene investigations.
