MIGRATING 3RD INSTAR LARVA
Larvae have not changed in size, but
flesh has been digested and is no longer
observable through the cuticle. At this
stage, larvae migrate to find a suitable
site to pupate.
6 POSTERIOR SPIRACLES
To locate posterior spiracles, orient the
larvae so that you can see the broad
end through the microscope. Increase
magnification and count the slits in one of
the two dark areas.

PUPA
Hard, dark, capsule slightly smaller than
3rd instar larvae.
