Weston - Super - Mare Masonic Hall

                                           Gets a New Look

Some time ago the Board of the Weston-Super-Mare Masonic Hall decided the
Premises needed a significant refurbishment. The rationale behind this was to
improve facilities for the Brethren and in addition make the building more suitable for
outside hirer to the public, this producing a new income stream. This action should
allow Capitation to be kept stable and in time, to reduce it.

The Plan was to build up a substantial “War Chest” to pay for alterations with no
need to borrow funds from any source. The work was carried out over several
months last year and has resulted in the following improvements:

               1. The wall between the bar area and the Ante Room being removed and
replaced by a soundproof, substantial set of Sliding Doors. This will have
enabled us to have a bigger, more comfortable bar area as well as a separate
Rehearsal Room. If necessary, the sliding doors can be opened to provide a
                  large social activity room.
               2. Construction of a new Disabled Toilet.
               3. Splitting of the Conference Room to form a proper Robing Room with
appropriate shelving and a bespoke Storage Facility.
               4. Refurbishment of the master’s Room, again with appropriate shelving.
               5. Most area’s redecorated, new carpet laid, suspended ceilings installed, and a
modern LED lighting system controlled by movement sensors (with overrides
                  and a zoning capacity) installed.
               6. A media system, enabling music to be played via telephones and laptops,
                  Bluetooth has also been fitted.
               7. Television screens and a large rolldown viewing screen have been installed.
               8. The Dining Hall has been redecorated and the old gas vents removed.

It is hoped that all this hard work and effort will bear fruits and that new
Organisations will use the facilities created.
