April 15: Worldwide coronavirus cases reaches 2 million.
The $350 billion Paycheck Protection Program, set up to help rescue small businesses with federally-backed forgivable loans, is expected to run out of funds tonight.
April 16: 5.2 million additional Americans filed for unemployment last week, bringing the monthly total to roughly 22 million.

Apr. 22: The County of Santa Clara Medical Examiner-Coroner has identified three individuals who died from COVID-19 before March 9, which was originally thought to be the date of the county’s first coronavirus death. This predates the original report of the first coronavirus deaths in the United States, which were recorded on February 26 in the state of Washington.
Apr. 23: 4.4 million Americans filed for unemployment insurance in the past week, bringing the 5-week total to roughly 26 million.

California Governor Gavin Newsom laid out a 6-point framework to gradually lift the state’s shelter in place restrictions. President Trump announced that his administration is halting funding to the World Health Organization.

Apr. 24: President Trump signs $484 billion coronavirus relief package into law.
Clorox and Lysol warn the public not to ingest their products after Trump suggests that an “injection inside” the human body with a disinfectant could help combat the virus.
Apr. 27: Six Bay Area counties, including Santa Clara and San Mateo, announce a plan to extend restrictions through May. The original shelter in place orders were scheduled to expire on May 3.
