 7. Be strategic
6
What a great time to think about the future! Seriously, it takes a lot to shake people from their day-to-day thinking and to become more objective.
• Don’tmissthisopportunitytothinkaboutyourownfuture, yourfamily’s future and the future of your business. Think about what is important to you and what drives you? What do you value most in your world? If you had a ‘blank sheet of paper’, what would you do differently?
• Asaminimum, writedownyourthoughts.UseaSWOTtohelpframe your thinking and prioritise your issues. Focus on the key factors and establish possible courses of action that may be appropriate for the future. This process is cathartic as it builds structure around the random and repeated thoughts that business owners always seem to have.
• Betterstill, looktoinvolveyourkeypeopleintheprocessanddrivethe strategy professionally. Why not use an experienced facilitator, even if using Zoom, Webex or Teams.
  “Don’t waste a good recession”
... was the title of the seminar series developed and presented by Chris Alp in the months and years that followed the GFC in 2010.
Amazingly, all the key messages from that era are still relevant today ... plus a few more.
Perhaps the most important message from Chris ... “be thankful that you live in Australia and we have been saved from the worst of this mess ... and
... don’t waste this chance to think objectively and strategically about your business, your family and your future”.
And as you probably know, that’s coming from someone who is one of the most positive people around.
Chris Alp is well known for facilitating strategic plans for Business Improvement, Succession, Marketing, Problem Solving and Survival.
