There you are, minding your
                            own business, when suddenly
                            you’re surrounded by small
shreds of tissue floating on the
air; drifting on the carpet, as a
                            grey whirlwind whizzes around
                            the room, tossing pieces
airborne and soggifying them before they go on to land.
You will not have felt the black wet nose penetrating
your pocket moments earlier. Forget the Andrex
puppy, he’s not a patch on a Kees with a glint in his
eye and a stolen length of toilet roll.

Match the devotion he shows you, and you’ll find his ability to empathise with
your every mood quite uncanny. If you’ve just had a piece of good news or
happy encounter, he’ll be there, jumping up and down around you with a real
expression that says how happy he is for your happiness. But, conversely when
sadness or misfortune strikes you’ll find him quietly sitting beside you, often with
his chin on your knee, radiating love from concerned eyes to share and soothe
your bad times. Unlike the very human saying of “Laugh and the world laughs
with you; cry and you cry alone”, you’ll find that your grey haired friend will stick
by you through thick and thin - always.

The Keeshond wears the air of one
who has been here before. He has
the ability to look deep inside you
                                              with those dark brown, almond
shaped eyes again and give the
                                              impression that he understands the
ways of life far better than you do.
Before you know it, he’ll be up
beside you on the couch while
you’re nursing your cup of tea telling
him all your worries. The funny thing is, though he clearly won’t utter a word as
he patiently listens, you’ll always come away feeling better for his company.
