MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

        Vicki Sarmiento



        We are proud to highlight MABA member and respected civil rights
        lawyer Vicki I. Sarmiento. Ms. Sarmiento runs her own private practice
        and has handled scores of civil rights police misconduct cases, and
        wrongful death cases. She often accepts difficult and risky cases where
        important civil rights issues are at stake. More recently, Ms. Sarmiento has
        been focusing on in custody death cases and litigation against juvenile
        detention facilities of Los Angeles County for the widespread failure to
        supervise and protect vulnerable and fragile juveniles who as a result are           Vicki Sarmiento
        either sexually assaulted or severely beaten during their detention.

        Ms. Sarmiento is a graduate of Hastings College of Law where she served as President of the La Raza Law
        StudentsAssociation.Ms. Sarmiento was included amongst “Top Lawyers” in Pasadena Magazine 2017-2018.

          MABA congratulates               From 1988 to 1991, Ms. Sarmiento was a trial attorney for the Los

            accomplishments.               Sarmiento has handled complex personal injury cases and civil rights

                                           cases, including cases involving traumatic brain injury, paraplegia, and
                                           wrongful death.     Ms. Sarmiento was also part of a class action
                                           lawsuit challenging Magic Mountain’s practice of racial profiling,
                                           resulting in changes to the invasive entry practices at Magic
                                           Mountain which targeted Hispanics and African-Americans.
