“ The Office of National Water Resources (ONWR) was created as a central agency, as
a manager of water moving forward the task to manage water resources. This is carried out
through coordinating and connecting with other government agencies, as well as involving the
private sector and people to participate in the development and joint management of national
water resources, monitoring, implementing and integrating policy, work plan, projects and budget
related to water together in unison. This will reduce the duplication and waste of resources,
and create a mechanism and connect the work of local agencies to increase their role and
potential. This includes the development of large scale projects, medium scale and small scale
ones. It includes as well new educational development approach that creates a balance and
addresses the need to use water in every sector, and the setting of measures to prevent and
mitigate droughts and floods in normal and crises situations, under the framework of the Act
on Water Resources B.E. 2561”
