About the Certified Legal Investigator (CLI) Program
Last month we congratulated and welcomed the two newest, and first international, CLIs –
Craig Smith, CLI
Craig is a new NALI member from Colorado. He owns Brightstar Investigations.

Bill Joynt, CLI
Bill has been a NALI member for several years and runs William Joynt Investigations in Toronto.
Bill is the first International CLI.

The CLI (Certified Legal Investigator) designation was started in 1979. It created an avenue for legal investigators to earn
a revered professional board certification unparalleled in the history of the investigative profession.

In 2009, after several months of study and preparation, Dean took and passed the CLI examination in Nashville TN.
“It is a very exhausting process in just the testing alone; and the preparation and studying being months. It is an
accomplishment to be proud of. PPIAC - again - demonstrates being a small association with a large national
footprint. Having six CLIs in one association is, I think, greater than even the largest state associations. I am very
proud of my fellow members and PPIAC, who continually demonstrate leadership in our profession as individuals and
an association.”
