New Commentary: Pre-Order – Death and Serious Bodily Injury Investigations 2nd Edition

Our 1st edition of Death and Serious Bodily Injury Investigations for the Professional
Investigator was in 2017, and was just over 200 pages. The 2nd edition (hardcopy and/or
digital) is available for pre-order and will ship this month! Expanded with over 100 additional
pages (300+) of detailed education content for civil or criminal cases. This expanded edition
includes the core of our distance learning course, and added Advanced Protocols, more
relevant articles, and bonus sections including case studies.

The area of death investigation is unique and applicable to nearly all facets of other legal
investigations. As only fractions of an inch may be the only difference between a fatal and
non-fatal event, Serious Bodily Injury (SBI) investigations – also known as Traumatic Injury or
Severe Injury (fatal and non-fatal) – are a natural extension. These may be obvious events
such as physical and sexual assault, abuse and neglect, and persons of all ages – and therefore warrant investigation.
These may be found in civil, criminal, probate and insurance interpleader cases. Less obvious events may include motor
vehicle collisions, white collar fraud and others. Even ‘white collar’ crimes.

Based on our experiences from both the medical examiner / coroner system as Medicolegal
Death Investigators, and privately as Legal Investigators, for all experience levels you may
have. A strong background in investigations is helpful, although not necessary – as the area of
death and SBI investigations is a specialty built on knowledge and experience.

The 2nd Edition includes bonus additional forensic, death and serious bodily injury based
articles, and case studies. You will learn the protocols of death and SBI investigations to
better advise your client, and prepare the case for expert consultation. This book is partnered
with the distance learning course, and is also a prerequisite to prepare you for the Certified
Forensic Death Investigator Program exclusively for Criminal Defense Investigators.
