        >> PI, Attorney and Client Relationship Ethics
Understand the ethics of private investigations - as an investigator, consumer or client.

Ethics are professional standards that investigators must follow, particularly if retained by an attorney as their agent. A
violation of ethics can harmful to a case or relationship, even professional licensure can be disciplined for a violation. For
these reasons, it is important that all parties to the relationship are made aware of these ethics and are guided by them.

The Mysterious Death of Sgt. Sean Drenth – Final Resolution in Widow’s Favor!
This expert consultation began a decade ago, and was the first expert death consultation case for our agency. This
finding was the last claim by the widow, and previously awarded life insurance benefits, local full survivor’s pension and
worker compensation, and now federal peace officer survivor benefits. Unfortunately, the medical examiner’s office and
police department will not change the death certificate or place the officer’s name on the fallen officers memorials.

We were retained by a long-time friend and fellow Certified Legal Investigator, Jon Colvin CLI, who worked diligently on
the case for a decade, and was the key to these favorable awards. Excerpts from the report:
Dean Beers, a board certified legal investigator, was retained by Claimant to provide an opinion concerning the manner
of death of Sergeant Drenth. After reviewing the medical examiner’s report, autopsy and scene photos and the
reconstruction packet of Criminalist Lucien Haag, among other things, Mr. Beers opined that the finding of suicide by
self-inflicted gunshot wound was “inconsistent and not plausible based upon the documented information, facts and
        evidence reviewed.”
