Islamic finance

8.1 Introduction

Islamic finance operates in accordance with the principles of Islamic law
(Sharia).

Basic principles:

 Sharing of profits and losses.

 No interest (riba) allowed.

 Finance is restricted to Islamically accepted transactions. i.e. no investment
in alcohol, gambling etc.
