               3.3 Taylor - Scientific management

Taylor believed the objective of management is to secure the maximum prosperity
               for both employer and employee:

To accomplish this, Taylor’s scientific management consisted of four key principles:

 Tasks should be analysed in detail to determine the most efficient methods to
                     use.

 Staff member should be scientifically managed. Only the most suitable people
should be chosen, trained an developed for each job.

 Managers should make all key decisions and provide detailed instructions to
workers to ensure that work was carried out in the most efficient way.

 Work was to be divided between managers and workers, with close co-
operation between both groups to maximise efficiency.
