               3.1 Networks

Most organisations connect their computers together in local area
networks (LANs), enabling them to share data (for example, via
email) and devices (for example, printers).
Wide area networks (WANs) are used to connect LANs together,
so computers in one location can communicate with computers in
                                another location.

Intranets, extranets and the internet all rely on network technology.
