Income Tax Act
• The Income Tax Act is divided into chapters and parts; each part has
sections and each section has paragraphs and sub-paragraphs.
• Attached to our Income Tax Act are eleven (11) schedules.
• The Income Tax Act is administered by the Commissioner for the South
African Revenue Service (SARS).
• The following two pages illustrate the layout of the Income Tax Act. You
do not need to memorise this illustration, but it gives you an overview
of what the Income Tax Act contains.
