General controls

• These controls can be both manual controls and

controls designed and built into computer

programs (automated controls).

• In terms of ISA 315, par A108, general IT controls

are policies and procedures relating to many

applications and supporting the effective

functioning of application controls. They apply to

mainframe, mini-frame and end-user

environments.
