Tax Consequences Of Declaring
Dividends
• From 1 April 2012 - dividends tax levied on dividends
Dividend subject to dividends tax:
• Section 64D: As defined in
• dividend paid by a resident co s1
• divided paid by a foreign co if shares are listed on JSE to
the extent that it does not consist a distribution of an
asset in specie (only cash dividends)
• Foreign dividends – dividends tax N/A if it is a dividend
in specie
