4.1 The accounting equation

Having considered the regulatory environment, we can now turn our attention to
developing our knowledge and understanding of the accounting equation. This builds
upon our knowledge of the elements of the financial statements which were defined
and explained in the previous chapter.

Remember that the accounting equation is normally stated as follows:

Assets = Liabilities + Capital.
