COLLECTOR SPOTLIGHT
“We were set up on a
brother-in-law who was married to Jan’s best high school girlfriend. We were both just twenty-one- years- old. I was a skinny long-haired freak and Jan was a very attractive girl with several active suitors, (some rich with fancy top down sports cars). The competition was fierce and I was surprised when she agreed to see me again after that first date.
The first time
Jan came to
my apartment,
I asked her to
sit on the bare floor in front of my stereo. I put huge headphones on her and played Elton John’s “Love Song” from Tumbleweed Connection. As the music began, Jan leaned forward, sitting cross-legged on that
cold hardwood floor. She closed her eyes, lowered her head, and rocked slightly to the track as it took her to another place. She was beautiful.
She has been collecting cookie jars for years.
She enjoys cookie jars from the depression era and up to the themed novelty jars from more recent times. She also has an interesting salt and pepper shaker collection and rescues stuffed Teddy
bears. I can’t
