 EMBRACING A NEW REALITY
The start of the new decade brought the typical new year’s resolutions; shedding a few holiday pounds, finally planning that family vacation .
Sadly, these resolutions were replaced by the novel Coronavirus, COVID-19 . These unprecedented times have brought their fair share of challenges and unfortunate circumstances .
As local governments began to put their “Stay at Home” orders into effect, we shifted our practices to implement physical distancing protocols while also allowing many of our office personnel to begin working from home . Our IT, Safety and Human Resources departments worked together to make this transition as seamless as possible, supporting our employees with the resources they needed to be successful .
With the modern digital era in full swing, platforms such as Google Hangouts and ZOOM have allowed us to conduct virtual meetings and training seminars . Keeping office traditions alive, our headquarters’ monthly happy hour would become virtual – making for hilarious screenshots . Daily check-ins with management and a bi-weekly, company-wide Virtual Open Door hosted by our CEO Henry Brown, connected all branches and answered questions pertaining to what happens next . An internal forum was also created to update our members with the latest COVID news, company protocol changes, and answers to frequently asked questions .
Keeping with the theme of connectivity, we were curious to see what working from home looked like for our employees . It turns out Miller Electric employees prefer dogs over cats! A remote home office wasn’t complete without the presence of a beloved pet keeping our employees at ease .
With all the uncertainties surrounding Covid-19 and recent changes, one thing remains certain – at Miller Electric we are more connected than ever and we are utilizing this time to build a better tomorrow .
