Unique Features: Pleasant hand drawn illustrations of leaves and owers on the title page of the book of Shemot . Dozens of glosses in ancient oriental handwriting in part two. Ownership signatures. Printed on thick paper with wide margins.
Background: Before us is the seventh edition of the Zohar which was printed in Constantinople in 1736, and was printed according to the Mantua edition, with approbations from the rabbis of Constantinople. is edition is more proofread that all its predecessors. On the title page, it is written that this was proofread from the Zohar from which Rabbi Chaim Vital stud- ied, and from other proofread books. Most of the subsequent editions of the Zohar were printed according to this edition.

Condition: Moderate. Blemishes on the title page of the book of Shemot. Minimal worming holes on the rst and last leaves of each volume. Aging stains. Simple bindings.

מפרט: לפנינו חלק א, בראשית עד סוף פרשת לך לך: [6],צו דף. חלק ב. ספר שמות, [1], רעט דף. חלק ג. ספר ויקרא, קטו דף.
מאפיינים יחודיים: בשער ספר שמות איורים נאים של עלים ופרחים בכתב יד. עשרות הגהות בכתב יד מזרחי בעיקר בחלק ב׳. חתימות בעלים. נדפס על נייר עבה עם שוליים רחבים.
רקע: לפנינו המהדורה השביעית של ספר הזהר נדפסה בקושטא בשנת “מלכות״ – תצ״ו, והיא נדפסה ע״פ הוצאת מנטובה, עם הסכמות רבני קושטא. המהדורה הזו היא מוגהת יותר מכל קודמותיה, וכדברי המדפיסים, המהדורה השביעית מזוקקת שבעתיים. בשער נכתב שזה מוגה מספר הזהר שלמד בו רבי חיים וויטאל, ומעוד ספרים מוגהים. על
פי המהדורה הזו נדפסו רוב המהדורות הבאות של ספר הזהר.
המדפיס הנודע ר׳ יונה אשכנזי כתב הקדמה ארוכה לספר. בהקדמה הוא מתאר איך הגיע מדמשק לידיו ספר זהר מוגה מהספר של רבי חיים וויטאל, שהוגה אות באות ותיבה תיבה ע״י רבי משה מזרחי. גם כותב שהיו לפניו כמה ספרי הזהר של עוד מקובלים רבים, ועל פי הספרים המוגהים הדפיס את המהדורה הזו. בהמשך ההקדמה, מפרט המדפיס י״א מעלות שיש בספר, והמעלה הי״א היא, שמגיה הזהר הזה בקי במיוחד בחכמת הקבלה וכי ראוי לסמוך עליו כעל עמוד ברזל. הקדמה חשובה זו נדפסה בהרבה מהמהדורות המאוחרות. תקופה אחר כך היו שערערו על ההגהות שנכנסו למהדורה זו, ותהו מיהו המגיה. אולם החיד״א קיבל את ההגהות האלו וקרא על המהדורה זו, מהדורת קושטא – קושטא
(-אמת) קאי.
מצב: בינוני. פגמים בשער ספר שמות. מעט נקבי עש בדפים הראשונים והאחרונים שבכל כרך. כתמי זמן. כריכות פשוטות.
