Unique Features: Before us is part of an archive of Rabbi Amram׳s with over one hundred items, including dozens of receipts for donations he received in various communities, mostly in Italy, and letters sent to him to Italy and Alexandria. He added his signature to many of the letters. e letters were sent to many communities in which he visited, including Pisa, Pitigliano, Livorno, Cento, Ferraro, Lugo, Pissarro, Senigallia, Ancona, Rome, Urbino and more.

Rabbi Natan Amram, [1791-1870] was born in Safed, scion of a Sephardic family of rabbis and emissaries. He served as rabbi of Aleppo and as a rabbi in a yeshiva in Damascus. In 1825 he went as an emissary of Tiberias to Alexandria in Egypt where he served as rabbi and dayan. In 1835 he went as an emissary for Hebron, wandered around Italy and visited many Jewish communities throughout Italy. He left Italy due to the Cholera outbreak there and went to Turkey, returned to Italy and traveled from there to France: Marseilles, Avignon, Nice and Toulouse and their envi- rons, Bordeaux and Paris. In 1851 he returned to Alexandria and from 1863 until his passing he served as its chief rabbi.

מאפיינים יחודיים: לפנינו חלק מארכיון של הרב עמרם ובו למעלה ממאה פריטים, מהם עשרות קבלות על תרומות שקבל בקהילות רבות, רובן באיטליה ומכתבים שנשלחו אליו לאיטליה ולאלכסנדריה. על רבים מהמכתבים הוסיף את חתימתו. המכתבים נשלחו לקהילות רבות בהם ביקר ובינהם פיורינציאה, פיסא, פיטיליאנו, ליוורנו, צינטו, פירארה, לוגו, פיסארו, סיניגאליא, אנקונה, רומא, אורבינו ועוד.
הארכיון נבדק בשטחיות וקרוב לודאי שהוא מכיל מסמכים חשובים.
רבי נתן עמרם [תקנ"א-תרל"א, 1791-1870] נולד בצפת כבן למשפחה ספרדית של רבנים ושד״רים. כיהן כרב בארם צובא, וכרב בישיבה בדמשק. בשנת תקפ״ה [1825] יצא לשליחות כשד״ר טבריה לאלכסנדריה במצרים שם שימש כרב וכדיין. בשנת תקצ״ה [1835] יצא לשליחות כשד״ר חברון, נדד לאיטליה וביקר בקהילות יהודיות רבות ברחבי איטליה. מחמת מגפת החולירע שפרצה באיטליה יצא לתורכיה, חזר לאיטליה ומשם המשיך לצרפת: מארסילייא, אביניון, ניצה וטולוסה וסביבותיהן, בורדיאוס ופריז. בשנת תרי״א [1851] חזר לאלכסנדריה ומשנת תרכ״ג [1863] ועד פטירתו שימש כרב ראשי של עיר זו. ראה: עבודת לילך תורג׳מן, “הרב נתן עמרם - שד״ר קהילות חברון״, שהוגש למחלקה לתולדות ישראל, הפקולטה למדעי היהדות,
