Speci cations: [30]: [31] leaves, paper. 18 cm. e calculation of the year on the title page of this edition amounts to: 1784, and the bibliographers were perplexed by this (refer to Ginzei Yisrael 1146).
Unique Features: is book is the rst book to compile the Ba'al Shem Tov's teachings into a complete book, and it was studied by those who wanted to learn the Ba'al Shem Tov's teachings in order. Its publication made a great impres- sion, and therefore the opponents of Chassidut hid the book and, it is told that in the city of Brody they destroyed it and made matches out of it, which is the reason for its great rarity. e approbations of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Liska, Rabbi Shlomo of Karlin and Rabbi Avraham Moshe of Przeworsk are on the rear side of the title page. Followed by the Ba'al Shem Tov's will, Kavanat HaMikveh by the Ba'al Shem Tov and a letter from the Ba'al Shem Tov to his brother-in-law Rabbi Avraham Gershon Kitover.
Background: Rabbi Aharon of Apta was one of the most important chassidic authors, he served as Av Beit Din of Apta during the period Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apta, author of Ahavat Yisrael, was rabbi there.
Condition: Moderate- ne. e book underwent professional restoration, the white margins were completed in several places, and a few worming holes were lled in. Isolated words were also professionally completed. Aging stains. e two parts were bound together in a new leather binding.
