Background: e sermons were rst printed in Shemen Rosh Munkacz 1903, by his father Rabbi Asher Anshel Ashkenazi. e author׳s son, who ed to Frankfurt at the beginning of the First World War, saved only the sermon pages of Bsamim Rosh and he bound them in a new book cover, where he wrote, “ is is the booklet which was saved from the sword׳s blade which was turning in our city and the part which was printed testi es regarding all that was conceived!״ Apparently, only the title page was printed in Frankfurt, with the name of the author, Rabbi Yitzchak Ashkenazi, the son of the author who printed the booklet. As such his address is written, “presently at a time of ״.emergency and destruction

Condition: Moderate- ne. Light tears in the corners without damage to text. Brittle paper. Inside a cardboard binding.

רקע: הדרשות נדפסו תחילה בספר שמן ראש מונקאטש תרס"ג, לאביו רבי אשר אנשיל אשכנזי. בן המחבר שברח לפרנקפורט בראשית מלחמת העולם הראשונה הציל עמו רק את דפי הדרשות בשמים ראש וכרך אותם בשער מעטפת חדש עליו נרשם "הלא הוא זה הקונטרס האחד הניצל מלהט החרב המתהפכת בעירנו והחלק הנדפס מעיד על הכל הנתפס!״. כנראה שרק דף השער נדפס בפרנקפורט, עם שם המחבר הר״י אשכנזי [רבי יצחק אשכנזי] היינו בן המחבר שהדפיס את
הקונטרס. וכן נכתב כתובתו “כעת בשעת חירום וחרבן״.
בעמ׳ האחרון צוואת זקנו של המחבר הרה״ק רבי משה דוד אשכנזי מטוטשווא-צפת.
מצב: בינוני-טוב. קרעים קלים בפינות ללא פגיעה בטקסט. נייר שביר. נתון בתוך כריכת קרטון.
