Unique Features: Special copy. With six title pages. Contains a general title page, and additional title pages for the orders of: Moed, Nashim, Nezikin, Kodshim and Taharot. In most of the known copies, in addition to the rst title page there are addi- tional title pages for the orders of Moed, Nashim and Nezikin. ere is a known copy with an additional title page for the order of Kodshim. However, in the copy before us there is an addi- tional title page for the order of Taharot as well. e title page of the order of Nezikin is similar to the rst title page. e title pages of the orders of Moed, Nashim, Kodshim and Taharot are similar, and they have a detail calculation di erent than that of rst title page and the title page of the order of Nezikin, despite being printed in the same year.
Background: e author was the in-law of the Maggid of Mezeritch, as the author׳s daughter was married to Rabbi Avraham ‘ e Angel.׳ e relationship between the author and the Maggid of Mezeritch can also be seen from a letter found in the Charson genizah which the Maggid wrote to the author- his in-law, regarding the commentary to the order of Taharot before us. It is well known that there are those who doubt the authenticity of the Charson genizah, but the fact that a letter about the book before us was found there attests to the relationship between them. e book is the rst edition of the commentary written by Rabbi Meshulam Feivish HaLevi Horowitz of Kremenets, the in-law of the Maggid of Mezeritch. e book was printed a few years after the author׳s passing, by the author׳s son with an introduction by him. With enthusiastic approbation from the great rabbis of all sectors: Rabbi Yechezkel Landau the‘Noda B׳Yehuda,׳ Rabbi Pinchas HaLevi Horowitz the‘Ba׳al HaHa a׳ah.׳ Rabbi Shaul of Amsterdam, Rabbi Rafael HaCohen of Altona - Altona-Hamburg-Wandsbek, Rabbi Yosef Steinhart of Furth, and many more.

מאפיינים יחודיים: עותק מיוחד. כולל ששה שערים. שער כללי, ושערים נוספים לכל אחד מהסדרים: מועד, נשים, נזיקין, קדשים וטהרות. ברוב העותקים הידועים, מלבד השער הראשון, ישנם שערים נוספים לסדר מועד, נשים ונזיקין. ידוע על עותק עם שער נוסף גם לסדר קדשים. אולם בעותק שלפנינו יש שער נוסף גם לסדר טהרות. השער לסדר נזיקין דומה לשער הראשון. השערים לסדרי מועד, נשים, קדשים וטהרות, דומים, ובהם חישוב פרט אחר מהשער הראשון ומהשער לסדר נזיקין,
אף שנדפסו באותה שנה.
רקע: המחבר היה מחותנו של המגיד ממעזריטש, שכן בתו של המחבר היתה נשואה לרבי אברהם ‘המלאך׳. על הקשר בין המחבר למגיד ממעזריטש, ניתן גם להווכח שבגניזה החרסונית יש מכתב ששלח המגיד למחבר - מחותנו אודות הפירוש שלפנינו לסדר טהרות. כידוע, יצאו עוררין על הגניזה החרסונית, אולם עצם הדבר שנמצא שם מכתב
אודות הספר שלפנינו, מראה על הקשר ביניהם.
הספר הינו מהדורה ראשונה של הפירוש שחיבר רבי משולם פייבוש הלוי הורוויץ מקרעמניץ, שהיה מחותנו של המגיד ממעזריטש. הספר נדפס שנים אחדות לאחר פטירת המחבר, על ידי בן המחבר עם הקדמה ממנו. עם הסכמות נלהבות מגדולי הדור מכל החוגים: רבי יחזקאל לנדא ה׳נודע ביהודה׳, רבי פנחס הלוי הורוויץ ‘בעל ההפלאה׳, רבי שאול מאמשטרדם, רבי רפאל הכהן מאלטונא-אה״ו, רבי יוסף שטיינהרט מפיורדא, ועוד רבים.
מצב: בינוני-לא טוב. קרעים עם פגיעה בטקסט במס׳ דפים. כתמי זמן. מעט נקבי עש. כריכת עור חדשה.
