Long letter in the handwriting of the Admor Rabbi Shalom Moskowitz of Shotz to Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Levin.

Unique Features: In this long letter, it is clear just how involved the Admor of Shotz was with the events in Israel. He writes here about the Agudat Yisrael׳s entry into the government, and criticizes the Admors in the Land of Israel for not ghting enough against the mandatory education law, which he de nes as a “decree of persecution.״ e Admor demands Rabbi Levin act with total devotion for the good of his nation and guarantees that he will not su er as a result. e Admor of Shotz dismisses Rabbi Aharon Kotler׳s criticism and wonders why the Admor of Gur and his Rabbi the Admor Aharon of Belz do not protest to the government. e Admor of Shotz adds that the situation in the Land of Israel prevents him from sleeping; until now we have been accustomed to decrees from the gentiles, and now, when Jewish blood from the Nazi atrocities has not yet dried, Jews are already decreeing decrees on Jews. He justi es his criticism of his Rabbi Rabbi Aharon of Belz by explaining that at the time when G-d's name is being desecrated, one does not have to respect his Rabbi.
e Admor Rabbi Shalom of Shotz - of the Zlotchov dynasty. Born in 1878, and ordained at a young age to the rabbinate by the Maharsham. At the age of 25 he was appointed as rabbi of Shotz and environs. One of his students at that time was Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin. During the First World War he wandered from place to place and in 1927 he agreed to the request of his followers in London and moved there. He was known for his tremendous uency in the Shulchan Aruch and for his hospi- tality. In 1950 he printed a letter to the heads of the government to base the life of the state on Torah foundations. e Admor promised salvation to those who visit his grave, and indeed many people ock to his grave in London. מאפיינים יחודיים: במכתב ארוך זה, ניכר עד כמה האדמו"ר משאץ היה מעורה בנעשה ונשמע בארץ ישראל. הוא כותב כאן בענין כניסת אגודת ישראל לממשלה, ומותח ביקורת על אדמורי"ם בארץ ישראל שאינם נלחמים מספיק בחוק חינוך חובה, אותו הוא מגדיר “גזרת שמד״. האדמו״ר דורש מהרי״ם לוין מסירות נפש למען עמו ומבטיחו שלא יוזק אם ינהג כך. האדמו״ר משאץ דוחה על הסף את בקורתו של הגר״א קוטלר ותמה מדוע האדמו״ר מגור ורבו האדמו״ר רבי אהרן מבעלזא אינם משמיעים קולם להרעיש על הממשלה. ומוסיף האדמו״ר משאץ וכותב שהמצב בארץ ישראל אינו מניח לו לישון; עד היום הורגלנו לגזרות מהגויים, ועתה עוד לא יבש דם היהודים מזוועות הנאצים וכבר היהודים גוזרים גזירות על היהודים. את הנימוק על בקורתו על רבו מוהר״א
מבעלזא הוא מנמק בכך שבמקום שיש חילול ה׳ אין חולקין כבוד לרב.
האדמו״ר הרה״ק הרבי שלום משאץ – שושלת זלוטשוב. נולד בשנת תרל"ח בגיל צעיר הוסמך לרבנות מהמהרש"ם ובגיל כ"ה כבר נבחר לרבה של שאץ והגליל. בין תלמידיו באותה תקופה נמנה הגאון רבי מאיר שפירא מלובלין, במלחמת העולם הראשונה נדד ממקום למקום ובשנת תרפ"ז נענה לחסידיו שבלונדון ועבר אליהם, נודע בבקיאותו הרבה בשלחן ערוך ובהכנסת אורחים. בשנת תש״י הדפיס מכתב לראשי המדינה להשתית את חיי המדינה על יסודי התורה. האדמו״ר הבטיח ישועות לעולים על קברו ואכן רבים נוהרים לקברו בלונדון.
