Focus groups were held with parents and community members in all three towns, and the
Central Office. By the deadline of October 16, a total of 22 applications were received.
The Superintendent Search Committee selected 6 to interview based on the leadership
profile and focus group feedback. Interviews were held the first week of November,
background checks were completed and two finalists were unanimously selected by the
Superintendent Search Committee.
Site visits were conducted with the finalists at the end of November and each candidate
toured all six schools with very broad community participation. The TTU School
Committee met to develop interview questions and held public interviews for the two
Finalists on December 1. Thorough reference and background checks were conducted,
including site visits to the finalists’ current districts. The TTU School Committee
deliberated on December 10, and unanimously selected Mr. Scott Morrison, currently the
Director of Curriculum and Instructional Technology for Manchester Essex Regional
Schools, as our next Superintendent of Schools. A contract has been accepted by Mr.
Morrison and he will start on July 1, 2016.
Closing Statement
The School Committee’s focus is on teaching and learning measured by increased student
achievement in a standards-based environment, which recognizes the value of creativity,
the arts, culture and technology. The world is changing very quickly, and we seek the
best way to prepare our children for a global future, while ensuring that our schools are
safe and supportive environments. The best teaching and learning will happen when all
children feel respected and valued.
The ongoing support we receive from the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), the
Boxford Elementary Schools Trust (B.E.S.T), and the Jonathan Tyler Barker Fund,
among others, enables the School Committee to accomplish more than we could within
our budget alone. We are grateful to the entire Boxford community for their support of
our schools, both the curriculum and the facilities.
