DIACONAL MINISTRY
THE BODY OF CHRIST AT ALL SAINTS
CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
At All Saints, we place a high emphasis on membership in a local church body. Membership is a commitment to a particular gathering of Christians who worship, serve, struggle, and mature in faith alongside one another. Since January 2018, All Saints has welcomed 112 new members and 26 new babies into our church family. Currently, over one third of our members are children (birth - 5th grade).
All Saints now has 19 deacons serving on our diaconate. Deacons are called to “interpret to the Church the needs, concerns, and hopes of the world, to develop the grace of liberality in the members of the church, to devise effective methods of collecting the gifts of the people, and to distribute these gifts according to the purposes for which they are contributed. At all times, their life and teaching are to show Christ’s people that in serving the helpless they are serving Christ himself.” In 2018, All Saints also formally commissioned 11 Deaconesses to serve in a leadership role alongside the Deacons.
It is an understatement to say that All Saints’ deacons and deaconesses fully embody this calling. In the last fiscal year (July 2017-June 2018), the deacons distributed over $45,000 from the Benevolence Fund to those in our church and community to assist with everything from medical bills to counseling appointments to housing. Our deaconesses have brought a long- needed dynamic to the way we care for our church members, particularly our women; they have been able to provide the kind of engagement and ministry in crisis that is vital to the health of our church and to caring well for all those in our body.
