As we look back on our first year at the helm of the Lifesaving Board of Directors, we see an abundance of positives. The immense value of the time and effort given by so many volunteers that enables us to keep our beach safe and enjoyable is very much appreciated, and we thank everyone for their commitment over the last season.
We also know that the future of the club relies on the succession plan of recruiting new members and it is with great delight that the collective efforts of senior club members have yielded a record intake of Bronzies this year.
With a massive 61 new active members passing through the Bronze Medallion course and a further 17 U14’s attaining their SRC award,
the ranks of patrolling members have swelled sufficiently to allow for Patrol 4 to be reinstated. This is an immediate gain for all Actives as pressure is eased on the number of patrols for everyone in the season.
With many new Bronzies coming from the Nippers families, this has also flowed into the Sunday morning Nippers with a much-needed influx of qualified Water Safety. This has meant more time in the water for the juniors, which is a great outcome for the kids and for our future.
We would like to single out our Director
of Lifesaving, John Reeves and CTO, Doug Gould, along with their team of qualified trainers for their dedication to this training program within our club. Delivering the various courses and proficiencies for active members requires a significant commitment of their time, and we thank them for their valued support and expertise.
Between the flags, 286 active members, led by Club Captain John Reeves and 12 amazing PC’s, delivered more than 8,000 hours of volunteer time on our beach. In particular, we

recognise and appreciate the 33 members who have given more than 60 hours of patrol time during the season – a huge effort. We thank all Active Members for their commitment to the club and for delivering on our core objective

– another year of zero lives lost on our beach. A special thank you and congratulations to John for your first year as Captain.
After a disrupted 2020 season, our talented Surf Sports team

able to enjoy a sweet post-covid return to competition. Our Head Coach, Josh Minogue and coaching staff, supported by Chris Price as Director of Surf
Sports, have worked their way through a great season to the ultimate goal of the Aussies in Maroochydore. Huge congratulations to our medallists, Grace Otto, Abbie Tolano, Gemma
