will look forward to more entertainment and social opportunities for members to enjoy time together at the club.
Behind the scenes, a newly formed sub- committee has been discussing plans for the placement of more surf lifesaving themed decoration and memorabilia in the clubhouse, following feedback received in a member survey late last year. So, look out for some exciting new features that will help to bring more ‘surf’ into the club restaurant and bar areas.
We are in debt to the support from our fellow board members who combine with us to offer a consolidated “team effort” to positively guide and direct the business of the Club. We would like to thank Yvette McKinley for an incredible
5 years in office as Director of Finance, as she passed the role over to Hamish Robertson mid-term and stepped in to fill a vacancy as Director of Administration. While new positions will be determined at the AGM, we are hopeful that Yvette will stay on the Board of Directors to continue to provide her enduring support and insight to the club.
We are sorry to report that Chris Price will
be stepping down as Director of Surf Sports
at the AGM due to work commitments. Chris has brought a huge depth of knowledge and valuable skills to the role and will be greatly missed at the board level and in the Surf Sports program. Sincere thanks to Chris for all of his
great contribution to developing the sports program at Sunshine.
We also want to acknowledge the service
of Lyn Twigger, who served as Director of Administration for 18 months and resigned the position mid-season to move south. The loss to the club of the experience of both Lyn and Bill Twigger, who served numerous roles and put in countless
hours of patrol and other volunteer time for the club, is keenly felt by all at Sunshine. We wish them well on their new adventures in the colder climate of country NSW.
We are pleased to report
that we have maintained
strong and ongoing
relationships with our
sponsors through the
season, and we thank
them for their support
of our club, particularly
through the disruptions of Covid-19. We also recognise that external support for the club has reached a new level this year, with a significant donation received from Norris Motor Group. This extended to a 4WD Utility and an SSV for the beach, along with a new bespoke trailer for the Nipper program. Their support for our club is unwavering, and very much appreciated by all.
