Experience of Migration

Most of Ecuadorians have migrated to the US during these past years. An example of migration, I
can say my parents. My parents have migrated to the U.S., for 3 different reasons. Economic

                  problems, health insurance, and Education.

The three main reasons why my parents decided to migrate to the U.S. were first, and the most
important, Economic problems they had. When my father graduated for college he knew that the
money he earned with his job wasn’t going to help our family for what we needed. At the time

they had my brother to take care of, and they knew that they wanted the best for him. When

migrating to the U.S. they had the opportunity to find amazing jobs that can help them with all
their expenses. Therefore they were earning triple of the money, they earned in Ecuador for less

of the time. That made them more confident and happy with the decision they made. Second, was
by health reasons. Once I was born they knew that I had a Medical condition and thinking about

returning to Ecuador wasn’t the best option. My medical condition was very rare and hard to
treat. I had to take x-rays twice a month and knowing that they were very expensive, they started

to worry, but luckily with the hard work that my parents have done, the government gave me a
medical insurance for special treatment. That meant that every treatment I had to take, half of it

the government was going to pay for. My parents immediately knew that if we were planning to
move back to Ecuador I wouldn’t be as healthy as I am now. Third, was by education. Knowing that

my brother and I one day we will plan to study in college. They knew that moving to the US was a
great option for us, because a degree in one of the most important places of the world was going

to matter a lot in the future and also knowing a new language was going to be a big advantage for
us. Unluckily, by family reason we had to return to Ecuador. But for the years that my parents and

I have studied in the U.S. as minimal as it was, it helped us for sure.

In conclusion I can say that the reasons why my parents decided to migrate to the U.S. were very

significant at the time. It has helped our family for good. Now here in Ecuador we have a great
economic state and opportunities. My parents having the experience of migrating has made them

better people as well as strong people to admire.
