Coaches Welcome..

We would like to extend our warmest welcome to Wigan St Judes for todays game
            down at Boardmans Lane.

We hope you enjoy the next forty minutes of rugby, watching our aspiring future
stars enjoying playing the game we are all passionate about.

Our ethos here at Blackbrook Rugby Club is that fun comes first and for that reason
we encourage all parents and spectators to respect every player on the field and
show their appreciation for any great rugby played by your team or the opposition.

Wigan St Judes so far : From little acorns giant oak trees grow………. The core of the
Wigan St Jude’s Maroons under 8’s squad started playing rugby together in the St
Judes Rugga Rascals development initiative at 5 years of age. The solid foundations
and core skills the kids learned at age 5 and 6 helped them to go unbeaten in their
first year as Under 7’s with additional players joining and strengthening the team
            throughout 2018.
In the winter of 2018/19 due to the success of the previous season, additional
players joined the squad and when the kids numbered 20 players, the decision was
taken to split into 2 teams, a development and a more advanced team, The Golds
            and The Maroons where born.
The Maroons coaching staff of Lee, Steve and Mark have since been able to spend
more time with the kids, further developing their defence, fitness and ball handling
skills. The team have flourished this year and are thus far unbeaten in 2019.
Last year the squad played in a couple of festivals over in Yorkshire which they
benefited from greatly and more recently we attended the Rhinos Festival of Rugby
at Butlins in Skegness which was a great success and enjoyed by both the kids and
parents, something we’d definitely recommend to the Blackbrook kids and parents.
Today Wigan St Jude’s Maroons are visiting Boardmans Lane for the first time are
looking forward to taking part in today’s curtain raiser against the Blackbrook
            Royals.

As a final note we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our many
sponsors who have generously donated to our club. Without the support of local
businesses like this our club would struggle to operate and certainly wouldn't be
able to give our young players the kit and equipment they deserve.

            Enjoy the game,
            The Blackbrook Coaches
