Hearing stories about Swami’s love or being in his loving presence naturally prompts us to offer love in return. Swami says that as we draw nearer to him through love, our experience of his love becomes so intoxicating that we actually merge into him.
Radha
One time, Swami spoke to me about Radha’s love for Lord Krishna and how her breath, mind, and heart were always absorbed in Krishna. Can we be so completely in love with Swami like the gopis (milkmaids), who grew up with Krishna and who only thought of Krishna and spent all their time looking for Him?
Once Swami delivered a stirring discourse about Krishna and in an interview asked, “Sandweiss, what did you think of my talk?” I was surprised that Swami should ask me such a question, and responded, “Swami, it was wonderful. I loved it.” He asked, “Was it too long?” I was worried that Swami might have seen me yawn or turn my aention away for a moment. I said, “No, Swami, it wasn’t too long. It was perfect.” Swami sat back in his chair and started telling us about Radha. He appeared in ecstasy and began speaking lovingly about her.
“Oh, Radha, Radha, what a devotee was Radha. She was always looking for Krishna, always talking about Krishna, always thinking about Krishna. There was not a moment that Krishna wasn’t in her mind, in her consciousness. She was always looking for Him, singing to Him. Even when she slept, she had no other dream but about Krishna. What a wonderful devotee was
Radha.”
