God Calms Our Worries
As a wife and a mother, I am constantly aempting to obtain a measure of detachment. Without learning this difficult spiritual lesson, we can get painfully caught in the suffering of those around us, as well as in our own problems. Sai Baba says, “Everything is a problem. Problems help you grow. They are your teachers.” Yet it is oen difficult to remain unaffected when family members suffer, and our faith is immediately put to the test when we watch a loved one endure pain. Our first impulse is to cry out “How can you allow this?” But then, where else can we turn?
On a family trip in June 2001, Sai Baba lovingly spoke with us. He said that I worried too much about our daughters, to which I replied, “But I’m a mother. I feel a sense of responsibility.” He said, “Yes, responsibilities and rights, and then \[clapping his hands together, with a big smile\] comes joy.” He then surprised me by materializing a beautiful golden Durga pendant. “Devi, Divine Mother, Shiva Shakti power,” he said. “This will take away your worry.” Then smiling, he added, “Four daughters, like the four Vedas \[naming
 the Vedas\], teaching.” Respecting Women

Women worldwide are grateful to Sai Baba for his loving support and encouragement. On November 19, l995, he inaugurated Ladies’ Day, a day on which women are celebrated and extolled for their high aainment in family, community, and spiritual life. Baba handed out beautiful saffron saris, and some of us paraded into the auditorium like one golden stream of light. The love energy in the room was electrifying.
