Gopala Krishna’s father, the Raja of Venkatagiri, was a devotee of Rama. After experiencing Swami’s divinity he became a devotee. He would have meetings at the palace where many could assemble for Swami’s darshan. One day when the family was eating with Swami in their private dining room, the Raja unexpectedly presented Swami with an unusual request. “Swami, can you bring back my mother?” The Raja’s mother had passed away two years prior. Gopala Krishna was surprised to hear his father ask such a question.
Without hesitation Swami looked up toward the dining room wall and called the mother with a simple command, “Come!” Gopala Krishna related that as the family gazed transfixed at the wall, they saw the live form of his dead grandmother walk out from the solid kitchen wall.
I asked, “Gopala Krishna, was her appearance just an illusion or your imagination? Was her figure like a spirit, apparition, or ghost?” “No,” he said emphatically. “You mean she actually appeared in her physical body? Did you actually touch her?” I asked in amazement. “Yes, we ran to her, fell at her feet, and touched them. She was real flesh and blood, and she spoke to us saying, ‘I am with Swami and am very happy. There is no need to worry about me. Swami is God; he is all powerful. Never let go of him. But beware, he dupes you.’”
Gopala Krishna said that she stayed for a few moments and then disappeared back into the wall. The family was overcome with gratitude toward Swami for granting this miraculous and loving visit with the mother.
